Parables

“That’s the thing about parables,” says Georgian preacher Anna Carter Florence, “[they] hit you when you aren’t expecting them.” She says, “Parable literally means ‘thrown alongside.’ As in, boom—one minute you don’t see it and the next moment you do. Without warning, you collide with some flash of insight and you know for sure that the kingdom of heaven has come near and you’ve seen a piece of it. You don’t know how, you don’t know why, you are just glad you were paying attention when it happened.”
